2 Ph.D. dissertation: "Josephus' Expositions of Biblical Law: an internal analyis."
subject area: although nominally "out of field" the approach I used in analyzing Josephus' writings, examining interaction between structure and content, has guided and inspired all of my subsequent research and teaching in the area of engineering models and software development process improvement. The tension between structure and content in Josephus is reincarnated in the tension between structure and behavior in engineering models and between discipline and creativity in software development processes.
supervisor: Prof. Sid Z. Leiman, Yale University.
3 Lead Assessor for Capability Maturity Model (CMMSM) Based Appraisal for Internal Process
Improvement. Training received in 1997. Certification awarded in 1998 after participation in
a number of software appraisals at the various divisions of Israel Aircraft Industries.

Industry-based research in software process improvement, software design methodologies, and impact of industrial testing and requirements and modeling tools. Research on “marketability” of software process models. Research regarding software “Misuse” and safety issues, and how software development tools and methods impact these issues/
We (Dr. Leah Goldin, Afeka College, and Dr. Iaakov Exman, Jerusalem College of Engineering) are continuing our research in the area of software “Misuse” and safety, with focus on effective use of software tools to proactively identify and remedy such problems.
We are examining, classifying and analyzing cognitive errors with misuse and safety implications. We are mining data from student examination errors, and examining ways of extrapolating to cognitive errors in engineering practice.
Continuation of current research (b), extending to the area of system engineering, and latest generation of modeling, requirements engineering and testing tools, including IBM Doors “next generation”, IBM Rational Rhapsody for System Engineering, and Cantata ++ (testing tool for safety critical systems). Methods for data mining from student examinations as well as industrial experience (from consulting of Dr. Leah Goldin), will be analyzed, and leveraged to devise effective methods for mitigating software and system misuse and safety problems.
