ד"ר סלמן למד לתואר ראשון במחלקה לפיסיקה שימושית אלקטרואופטיקה במרכז האקדמי לב, והשלים את לימודיו לתואר שני ושלישי בפיסיקה בביה"ס למדע שימושי באוניברסיטה העברית. לאחר מספר שנים בתעשייה שב ד"ר סלמן לאקדמיה ומשמש כמרצה וחוקר בחוג  פיזיקה - הנדסת אלקטרו-אופטיקה במרכז האקדמי לב. ד"ר סלמן הקים מעבדת מחקר בתחום של לייזרי מצב מוצק ועומד בראשה מאז 2007. המעבדה עובדת בשיתוף עם גופי אקדמיה ותעשייה שונים ומכשירה בין היתר סטודנטים לתארים מתקדמים.

ד"ר סלמן עוסק והינו בעל ניסיון בתחומים של לייזרי מצב מוצק, אופטיקה לא לינארית, מיקרו אופטיקה ואפטיקה דיפרקטיבית, מערכות אופטיות בתחומי הנדסה רפואית.

1.      Photodarkening effect of different component of AsSe glassy films under light pulses 2005 - 2007 with Victor                    Lyubin, Flaxer Eli and David Abrahamoff

2       Adaptive micro-optical device: research & development of technology and fabrication of experimental devices Dec            2006- Dec 2008 (With Naftali Eisenberg and Michael Manevich)

3.      Development and management of an advanced optical design course that was given to an industrial engineering in the          filed of optical design : the participation include engineers from Applied Material, Nova, Ophir Optronics , MMG,              El-op , Elbit, ect' 2007

4.      Design of a two field lens in the LWIR (8-12um) with ITL Company 2008

5.      Building an in-house lab for advanced research in Solid State Lasers and non linear optics and for optical                            demonstrations (since 2004).

6.    Assistance and consulting to Prof Meir Nitzan and to his group in development medical products (since 2010)
