קורות חיים

Professor Posner was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1942 and received all of his higher education through the University of Toronto. He received his B.A.Sc. in Engineering Physics in 1963 and his doctorate in Industrial Engineering in 1967, with his thesis in the area of queueing networks. Upon completing his doctorate, he immediately joined the department of the University as an Assistant Professor, with subsequent promotions to Associate Professor (1973) and Full Professor (1983). He engaged in an active research and teaching career in Toronto, teaching courses in probability and statistics, operations research, and stochastic modeling, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focus was primarily in queueing modeling and applications in industrial engineering, and he has published over 60 papers, mainly in highest quality journals in applied mathematics, stochastic processes,  operations research, and industrial engineering. He served as referee for many papers for top journals, organized sessions at international conferences, and delivered many papers as well. He supervised over 100 final projects at the undergraduate level and over 30 at the graduate level, including 12 doctoral students.

In 2000, he took early retirement to make aliyah and join the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at JCT as Professor and Chair, serving in that capacity for 5 years.  He now continues in that department as Full Professor and Program Coordinator, teaching courses in Advanced Operations Research and Case Studies, and supervising final projects.

Professor Posner has 5 children, of which 3 made Aliya and live with their families in Israel.  He is also blessed with a respectable number of grandchildren, B”H
