Research and Development Activities

a.Summary of Current Research and Development Activities


Developed image filters based on depth sensors and feature detection in order to maximize the benefits of visual implants with limited number of pixels.

Using control theory to study eye movement abnormalities of patients with specific neurologic disorders in hopes of using eye movements as biomarkers to quantify the appearance and progress of the disease even at presymptomatic stages.

 

b.Future Directions for Research and Development.


Design and construct an experimental setup to measure the roll of the pupil during light adaption of the human visual system.
 

c.Summary of Past Research and Development Activities


Developed and constructed new experimental techniques to measure when and how the brain integrates visual information to guide saccadic eye movements. I applied a temporal reverse correlation by synchronizing subject eye-movement decisions with temporal white-noise stimuli.

 

Developed and constructed an experimental system for measuring forces and motion in living eukaryotic cells. Developed and built experimental setups including: optical tweezers based on infra-red diode laser, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, 3-D video microscopy and electron microscopy.
